Tired of reading? . . . .then, here’s some good podcasts and voice articles we have found for you!

This afternoon we are bringing you a great conversation that our friends, Danny Jefferson and Alan Creedy, have at the “Two Guys and a Question” podcast.  In this 10-minute podcast Creedy and Jefferson take on the question, “Embalming:  Is it still relevant?”

Turns out they think so. . . . listen to their podcast and ponder on what you think.

Here is the podcast from “Two Guys and a Question”

We also add a podcast from the National Funeral Directors Association’s “A Brush with Death” podcast series.  The NFDA podcast is entitled, “A Custom Built Calling”  and brings us an interview with Trey Ganem, owner of Soulshine Industries, who, according to an NFDA tease for the podcast “has taken custom urn and casket design to the next level”

Here is the podcast from NFDA’s a “Brush with Death Series” featuring Trey Ganem

Finally, we bring you a voice article from Cardinal News and Virginia Public Radio.  The voice article features two reporters talking about the Death Care profession and some changes they have seen.  Cardinal News tells us that they serve “Southwest and Southside Virginia”.

Thirty years ago, the firm I worked with had a cremator placed inside the funeral home. Not in a garage or near the trash cans, but took an old deep garage attached to the chapel (where stationery was kept, storage, etc.) and turned it into a gorgeous area. Granite flooring, skylights, birth paneling, a lot of light. We showed the public how we considered cremation, how we valued what cremation families valued. In addition, we used a day bed for cremation visitation, even asking the families to provide the bed clothes if they wished. One day, I watched a twelve year old granddaughter sit down on that day bed next to her grandmother, and I knew we’d done the right thing.
