Legacy Funeral Group Announces Texas Acquisition

Last week the Legacy Funeral Group announced the acquisition of the Charlie Marshall Funeral Homes.  The Charlie Marshall Funeral Homes were founded in 1949 and have served the Texas communities of Aransas Pass and Rockport for over 65 years.  You can read a press release on the transaction here. According to the press release, the Legacy Funeral Group, founded in 1998, now has more than 100 funeral homes under their control.


Park Lawn completes Signature Deal

At the close of business Monday, May 7, Park Lawn Corporation announced that it had completed its announced purchase of Signature Funeral and Cemetery Investments, LLC (the Signature Group) for approximately US$123 million.  You can read the press release from Stockhouse here. Cremation Society of New Hampshire Expands into Vermont

The Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium announced last month, according to this article in The Manchester Link, that they had purchased the Ker Westerlund Funeral Home which has served the Brattleboro, Vermont, area for more than 150 years.  The Phaneuf family of operations also includes the Cremation Society of New Hampshire and this location will be the company’s first foray into Vermont. Carriage Services Reports 1Q 2018

The Journey Group Keeps Growing

The Journey Group, a death care industry consolidator based out of the New Orleans area, announced last week the purchase and acquisition of two firms in the greater Birmingham, Alabama, area.  Both firms are metropolitan combination firms — each with a funeral home facility on a cemetery property. Over the New Year’s Holiday I noticed a small blip in a Mississippi newspaper, the Sun Herald, which announced the fact that Jeffrey O’Keefe, Jr. of Gulfport has been named President of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Homes.
