Carriage Services adds “hinted at” acquisition

In Carriage Service’s 2nd Quarter financial report, Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel, Steve Metzger, hinted that the company had two acquisitions in the pipeline that would probably be announced in the following couple of weeks.

We now know, thru this Carriage Services press release, that one of those acquisitions appears to be 800-call Funeraria San Juan located just outside of Orlando, Florida, in the Kissimmee community.  According to the press release, Funeraria San Juan operates out of two stand-alone funeral homes.

Here’s what Carriage Services CEO Mel Payne said in the press release of the transaction, “We are excited to welcome the San Juan team to the Carriage Family and we look forward to supporting the tremendous work they have done in growing their business to serve more than 800 families last year. The addition of San Juan aligns well with our focus on partnering with the best remaining independent funeral and cemetery businesses located in high growth markets with significant upside potential.. . “

Carriage Services General Counsel, Metzger, also alluded in the 2Q report to the company also having a signed letter of intent with a 1,200 call firm in a strategic market.  Funeral Director Daily will bring you more details of that transaction when we hear them.

According to the press release Carriage Services “operates 169 funeral homes in 26 states and 31 cemeteries in 11 states”.
