Other opinions. . .and news you can use

Wow!!  It’s already November 3 or what I say in Minnesota. . . “into the Winter season we go”.  Being a Friday this is probably a good time to clean off my desk with some links to articles you might want to see.

First of all, I’ll bring you some business opinions from Seeking Alpha referring to death care companies Matthews International and Carriage Services. . . . . and then I’ve got some information for you to share with the Veterans in your community prior to next week’s Veterans’ Day. . . .and, finally, I’ve got some information where you can look into honoring those veterans who have served and died by helping out at Wreaths Across America.

Here goes — first of all the business articles:

Matthews International —  Seeking Alpha recently published this article about death care conglomerate Matthews International.  It is titled, “Matthews International:  Downsides corraborated by Economics and Valuations”.  Matthews International is the parent company of Aurora Casket, Matthews Environmental Solutions (cremation), and Matthews Cemetery.  This article was written on October 26.

Carriage ServicesSeeking Alpha recently published this article following Park Lawn’s withdrawal of the offer to purchase assets of Carriage Services.  It is titled, “Carriage Services:  Cheap after the failed buyout”.  Carriage Services is a funeral home, cemetery, and cremation business with approximately 173 funeral homes and 32 cemeteries across the United States.  This article was written on October 28.

Veteran’s Day is fast approaching.  To honor the service of our country’s veterans the “VA’s Veterans Canteen Service is serving free breakfast combo meals and free Starbucks tall coffee the morning of Nov. 9 at PatriotCafés and PatriotBrews“.  Here’s information from the Veteran’s Administration on that.

WreathsAcrossAmerica2005

Finally, one of my favorite charities, Wreaths Across America, is looking for helpers in placing Christmas season wreaths on as many veteran’s graves as possible on “Wreaths Across America Day” taking place December 16.  The non-profit plans to be at 4,000 locations and place more than 2 million wreaths on veteran’s graves that day.

If you are interested in helping out, you can learn more here.
