An Idea for Public Relations or Revenue Generation

As has become our custom we at Funeral Director Daily periodically highlight one of our social media followers.  Today we are choosing to highlight a unique company whose product crosses over into the death care industry.

Cloverlawn Butterflies is a small, family operated butterfly farm based in Orlando, Florida.  It is a very unique company that supplies live butterflies for coordinated release at various events.  Butterfly releases can be used for all special events including weddings, funerals, memorial services, and more.

When I looked at their web-site and the videos that are part of it I immediatly knew of at least two ways where their products could be used at our funeral home.  First of all, you could use the butterflies at a set event – say an annual picnic and day of remembrance for families that you have served.  Every family could be given a butterfly to be released similar to a balloon release — although I bet nobody in your market area has done this type of event with butterflies before.

Secondly, the businessman in me looked at the product and thought of it as an offering to families who would pay a retail price for this being done at a loved ones funeral or memorial.  A funeral home could keystone or triple the price to make a nice margin as an ancillary item to the other services selected.
