There is a new play out called “Cremation: The Play” and it is set to be live-streamed beginning tomorrow on Lemonade.  It will also be live-streamed on Saturday and Sunday.  Cost to watch the live-stream is $20 and includes a Q & A following the production with the producers and cast.

You can see information on the play here from a short notice in Broadway World.  They mention that it is about the writer and director’s experience of working in a crematory of which you can read about here.  The Lemonade website which you need to log in to to watch is here and mentions that the play is “A romantic comedy set in a crematory in Los Angeles”.

NFDA bringing back “Meet the Mentors”

According to this press release from the National Funeral Directors Association, After hitting the pause button during the COVID-19 pandemic, the National Funeral Directors Association’s (NFDA) popular Meet the Mentors program will make its return in 2022.

The program, presented by the Funeral Service Foundation, will take place August 14-16 at the Emory Conference Center Hotel, located on the campus of Emory University, in Atlanta, Georgia. NFDA is now accepting entries for an opportunity to participate in Meet the Mentors, which has been wholly funded by the Funeral Service Foundation since its 2011 inception.

There is no cost to participate in “Meet the Mentors” and participants are selected via a random drawing of applicants.  Application deadline is May 16, 2022, and applicants must be NFDA members, licensed funeral directors or embalmers,  and be under 40 years of age or new to the funeral profession (licensed for less than 5 years).  For more information on applying, please access the above linked press release.
