Our latest “Most Read” articles — Preneed, Acquisitions, Regional Operators, and Regulations all take a place

At Funeral Director Daily we emphasize that our articles deal with the “Business” of Death Care. . . . But “Business” has proven to be a very varied subject and our readers reflect and represent a great “Business Diversity” in Death Care.
That becomes clearly evident when you look at our Top Read articles every 30 days. They don’t always deal with the same business subject, but generally deal with some realm of Death Care business. . . .The same is true this month as the most read articles deal with Preneed (and inflation), a large scale acquisition, Regional Operators and their rise in the business, and regulations that are delaying crematory installations and causing a potential cremation back-up in one state.
Here as we do each month, we have listed our “Most Read” articles from December 15 to January 14:
- The “Guaranteed” preneed philosophy – is it working in high inflation times?
- Park Lawn purchases 8 funeral homes in Greater Oklahoma City
- 2025 Business Story of the Year: “Rise of the Regionals”
- Washington crematories stymied by air quality regulations
- Everstory Partner’s Cedar Hills Funeral Home completes renovations
It is interesting to note that four of the 5 articles were published in the past 30 days — which is the general formula for the “Top Read” articles of the previous 30 days. However, this month’s “Most Read” article was published in June 2025.
We’ve found what happens in that type of situation is that the article makes its way to the top of search engines such as Google for searches such as “Guaranteed funeral” or the like type of words for a subject that has became topical of late or that the article has become the subject matter in a Continuing Education class or Mortuary Science school class. . . . Either way, we are always happy to see older articles resurrected and the subject matter still appropriate. . . In a way, it is a small badge of honor in letting us know that some of our articles are ahead of their time!
