Earlier today I found this article from CNN that talks about the gun violence in Chicago and relates it to the good people at the Leak and Sons Funeral Home and how it affects their lives.  Leak and Sons is operated by 81-year old Spencer Leak, Sr. and the gun violence in the city is reflected in this article about some of the funeral home personnel.

Here are just a few things that the article pointed out:

• In 2017 there were 656 murders in the City of Chicago
• Chicago police seized 6,300 illegal weapons last year.  That is a rate of about one every 90 minutes for the entire year.
• One weekend in late August this year there were 58 people shot. . .about one per hour.  And, of those 6 died.

I pass this article on because it is an excellent article about what these funeral professionals deal with. . . which is, in most ways, so different than what I had to deal with in a rural area.
