Hoff Funeral Home and Cremation Service adds to their Minnesota holdings. . and more Hoff news
It was recently announced in this article from the Fillmore County Journal that Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service recently acquired the former Riley Funeral Homes in both Lanesboro and Chatfield, bringing their number of locations in southeast Minnesota to eight. The 3rd generation funeral business has quietley grown itself into one of Minnesota’s leading funeral homes.
According to the article the Hoff business was started in 1969 when Lowell Hoff moved to Winona, Minnesota, and purchased two funeral homes. Tim Hoff joined his father in 1983 and Tim’s daughter, Ashley Hoff Czplewski is now involved as the 3rd generation funeral director in the business.

Funeral Director Daily take — Tim Hoff is a University of Minnesota Mortuary Science alumnus and, I’m proud to say, a classmate of mine. The success that Tim and his family have had in these past 40-some years since we left the U of M together is well deserved and well worked for.
However, knowing Tim as I do, that is not surprising. He’s an incredible caring individual and one who would be fair and honest with every family he serves. I’m sure that he goes the extra mile for every family and I’m also sure that the well-being of the family and not profits is the first thing he thinks about in taking care of families.
In essence. . . . as human beings go, they don’t come any better than Tim Hoff.
Keeping it in the family –– Ashley’s brother and Tim’s son, Tyler Hoff, is also a funeral director and owns a funeral home in Austin, Minnesota. Here’s the website for his funeral home.

Ever the Optimist –In my opinion, one of Tim Hoff’s greatest attributes is that he, like myself, is ever the optimist. Even when it comes to our alma mater University of Minnesota Golden Gopher football team. Each year in August Tim tells me that he can see a Big Ten Championship coming for that season even though the last time we won or tied for the Big Ten football championship was 1967– when Tim and I were in grade school!
7 Time National Champions — Just so you know however, the U of Minnesota Golden Gophers throughout the history of college football have 7 National Championships although the NCAA does not seem to give us credit for our 1904 13-0 season when they count them. Here’s a listing from the NCAA about the Top 10 schools with National Football Championships. . . .and those of you who think you may have bragging rights. . . .take note that Yale is still #1 with 18 Championships!!!
