A fire during the evening of May 16 and early morning hours of May 17 destroyed the Sharp Funeral Home in Schwartz Creek, Michigan.  You can see a video news story provided by ABC 12 News here as well as read an article on the event.

Funeral Director Daily take:  When an event like this happens it just gives those of us in the business a cause to wonder “what if this was us?”  Do you have business interruption plans in place for an event like this?

On the positive side, it was interesting to hear the fire chief talk about how important it was to get the ten deceased bodies in the funeral home at the time of the fire removed to safety as soon as possible.  The fire chief was very perceptive in that he recognized the importance of this gesture.  Finally, nobody was injured and that is always a good thing.
