A jury reached an agreement in the amount of damages to be awarded to families in the Galilee Cemetery trial in Memphis yesterday.  You can read an article on the awards here.

While the award amount amount per body is listed, we don’t know the final numbers as we have never been told, at least to our knowledge, exactly how many bodies are involved in the class-action suit.

From our point of view, it will also be interesting in where the damages will come from.  Depending on the number of bodies represented in the class-action the awards could well be into the millions of dollars.  The cemetery has been closed and we don’t know what their financial resources are at this time nor do we know if they had insurance for this type of legal award.
