Burnout, stress . . .that’s the topic of Peer Support tomorrow night

It’s already the 3rd week of August and with the 3rd week of every month comes the Cremation Association of North America (CANA) and the ability to participate in their Peer Support Network.  All Death Care workers are encouraged to go online on Tuesday night (tomorrow) and participate in this month’s topic.

And that topic this month is about the stress and eventual burnout that funeral professionals can exhibit because of their work.  Here’s what a press release put out by CANA says about tomorrow night’s session:

Between vacation schedules and school starting—not to mention the constant stress of maintaining our high standards of care—this is a busy time of year! Add to that the struggle of hiring qualified and capable staff, and we are putting in longer days with heavier workloads. It’s no wonder that we might be feeling a touch of the burnout.

What is burnout? Is burnout physical or just mental? How can we learn to look after ourselves? Bill Sampson is co-owner of Belvedere Funeral Home in Charlottetown, PE, and understands what the stress of keeping a small business running is like. He facilitates the August Funeral Professionals Peer Support Meeting to discuss the burning out in funeral service and how we can see to our own needs. Whether or not you have a pressing issue to discuss, the meetings are a valuable place to offer support to your colleagues!”

The Tuesday, August 20, session is set to begin at 7 pm Central Time.  (8 pm Eastern Time)
