Manufacturing shortages/delays. . . social distance funeral home fines

Over the weekend we came across a couple of articles that related to articles that we produced for our readers last week and just thought that we would link related articles for our readers in case they are interested in looking more into the situations.

On pandemic manufacturing shortages and/or delays due to processes outside the manufacturer’s control we bring you a couple of articles.  One dealing with the popular Ford F-150  pickup truck.  We learned from this article that Ford Motors will be temporarily cutting production on the vehicle because of a shortage of getting semiconductor chips.

According to the article, Kumar Galhotra, Ford president of the Americas and international markets, described the chip shortage earlier this week as a “very dynamic situation.” He said the company has been working with its suppliers to mitigate impact to its plants and resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

“It’s changing all the time, but we think we will be dealing with it for at least the first half of this year,” he told CNBC.

The popular exercise equipment maker, Peloton, which has seen incredible sales of its home exercise equipment during the pandemic also stated in this article that logistics details are affecting the timing of getting their products to the consumer.

Manufacturing lags were not the only challenge for deliveries. Shortages of containers, extended port delays, and a backlog to get containers unloaded were other problems the company faced, finance chief Jill Woodworth said in the article.

Directly from the death care realm, Funeral Director Daily told you last week of a British funeral home fined over $ US 13,500 when a funeral service drastically exceeded the 30 person maximum attendance limit imposed by the British government authorities.  Since that happened funeral directors are doing everything they can to stay in compliance and the United Kingdom’s National Association of Funeral Directors issued a statement, according to this article, which in part said this:

‘We only have one chance to say goodbye and funeral directors are committed to ensuring families can continue to be there, safely, to bid farewell to someone they love.  You can help ensure this remains possible too by only attending a funeral if you have been invited by the immediate family.”
