Finance leads “Top Stories” in last month

In what is probably a first for Funeral Director Daily, our “Finance” story headings took four of the top five spaces in “most-read” articles this past month.  That is however, certainly understandable when you consider the potential take private movement of Park Lawn Corporation (PLC) and the commentary that development has brought about in the profession.

That, somewhat surprising announcement last month, has brought on much speculation in what might be next for other public companies such as Service Corporation International (SCI) and, even more so, Carriage Services.  And, the role of private equity in Death Care has really been brought to the forefront by what has happened recently.

Other “Finance” articles included working alliances between companies that were announced such as Global Atlantic with SCI and Homesteaders Life with Gather.  Here’s our Top 5 articles read articles from June 15 to July 15:

  1. Will SCI take a run at Park Lawn Corporation?
  2. Will Carriage Services be next?
  3. Global Atlantic, SCI form preneed partnership
  4. Homesteaders Life partners with Gather’s case management platform
  5. Matthews International, EV automaker Tesla at odds over lawsuit

Funeral Director Daily shows Growth —   From 4 readers a couple of years ago to 3,041 readers who request our articles daily today, I am humbled by our organic growth and acceptance in the Death Care world.  Our e-mail numbers were recently culled by about 400 e-mails who were receiving our daily e-mails but had not opened one in a length of time so that we could  be more accurate with our numbers.

Removing those e-mails did not drop the monthly pageview totals of FDD because those e-mail addresses were not reading our articles.  I am also excited that our June pageviews were recorded at 15,569 as compared to 13,279 for June of 2023 — that’s a 17.24% increase. . . Thank you readers!!!

I receive e-mails almost daily telling me how Funeral Director Daily has become your Death Care “Business News” daily read of choice.  Thank you for that continued support.

I know that we are different than most in that I don’t just re-publish every press release sent to me. . . .At Funeral Director Daily I look for valid news, information, and current events that has the ability to resonate with those that work and manage in the Death Care professions and then expound on the news being offered and use my life-long experience in the Death Care profession and greater business world to offer a way whereby that news and information can be a valued input into your decisions on how to proceed with your business or career.

And, I think it helps that I’m not an outsider who simply comments on Death Care. . . . . I’m a 4th generation funeral director and funeral home owner who has “lived” Death Care since my days as a child.

The growth of FDD has been humbling and flattering to this almost 40-year small-town funeral director who continues to care about the profession in general. . . especially our ethics, business practices, and consumer sentiment towards the profession. . . .The profession, like other professions, will change over time and I hope to be here watching the trends ahead of time and giving readers a “heads-up” on what may be coming.

Again. . ..Thank you!!!
