Wreaths Across America – Slated for Saturday — Needs Your Help

Wreaths Across America, the non-profit with the big goal of placing a Christmas wreath at the tombstone of every United States soldier is asking for some help this year.  This year, the group’s goal is to not only get enough wreaths for Arlington National Cemetery, but for 1,200 other cemeteries around the world.  The organizations mission is to “Remember, Honor, and Teach”.

The operation works in basically three parts.  Individuals request that their cemetery be included.  The national web-site then lists that cemetery as a participant and local people go out to recruit volunteers to place the wreaths as well as donors to provide funding for the wreaths.  Finally, at a designated time world-wide all volunteers go out and place the wreaths.

Wreaths Across America needs your help this year as the organization is short of funding for about 25,000 of the 275,000 plus wreaths to be placed at Arlington National Cemetery.  Since the wreath laying is this Saturday, December 16, your donation will help pay off any balances the organization may have as they move into 2018.

You can see a video news clip and article on the organization here.  You can also add a cemetery for next year and place a donation by going to the national web-site at www.wreathsacrossamerica.com.

Funeral Director Daily take:  We believe in the men and women who have put their lives on the line for our freedom.  We think Wreaths Across America is a tremendous organization – one in which we believe honors the American ideals, which include Sacrifice.  The “Sacrifice” not only is meant to honor our service veterans, but the sacrifice of ordinary Americans to donate either their money or time to allow this honor each year.

If you operate a funeral home or cemetery in a community maybe it is time to get your community involved in Wreaths Across America for next year.
