We will end this week with news of another acquisition in the Death Care space.  This press release from earlier this week announced Park Lawn Corporation’s definitive agreement to acquire Kansas City metro area based businesses that include substantially all of the assets of Carson-Speaks Chapel in Independence, Missouri; Speaks Buckner Chapel in Buckner, Missouri; Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Missouri; and Oak Ridge Memory Gardens in Independence, Missouri.

 

The “Speaks acquisition” will add three stand-alone funeral homes and a stand-alone cemetery to the grouping of death care properties owned and operated by Park Lawn Corporation.  The press release further states that the acquisition will add approximately 772 death calls and 80 interments per year to the Park Lawn business profile.

 

Park Lawn Corporation CEO J. Bradley Green said this of the transaction, “These distinguished businesses not only closely align with Park Lawn’s values but will also further our operational synergies in the market.  We are honored to welcome the Speaks businesses and their teams into the Park Lawn family.”

 

It is expected that the transaction will close in April 2023.
