Missouri Funeral Home adds Comfort Dog to Staff

There is no doubt that funeral service has changed. There is also no doubt that funeral home owners care about the people they serve. In search of all possible therapies for people in grief and need, the Greenlawn Funeral Home of Springfield, Missouri, has added a comfort dog to its staff.

In an article from the Springfield News-Leader it is noted that the dog, Gracie, began in December. She is a goldendoodle acquired especially for this cause. According to staffer her role is to be “present and available” to those that want to interact with her.

Greenlawn owns five funeral homes in Missouri and the plan is to transport her to the different locations as requested by families.

Funeral Director Daily take: Grief is a powerful emotion and one that is getting better understood. Anything we can do to help those in that situation is a positive. As for a business, this is another perk, for the consumer,
