Johnson Consulting adds Jim Price to their staff

It was announced in a recent press release that industry veteran Jim Price has joined the team at Johnson Consulting Group.  In the press release Johnson Consulting Group described Price as “a distinguished professional with an unparalleled career spanning over five decades in the funeral and cemetery profession. Price’s strategic acumen and proven success record position him as a coveted member in our consultancy team.”

Jim Price

Most recently Price served as Senior Vice President, Industry Relations at Park Lawn Corporation for over 6 years.  Price also co-founded Foundations Partners Group, playing a pivotal role in its success and contributing to operational excellence and strategic initiatives. His 14-year tenure as Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founding Partner at Keystone Group Holdings, Inc., further solidifies his legacy of exceptional leadership and sustained growth.

Price has also been busy in the death care profession’s various organizations. He has served the ICCFA Educational Foundation as chairman and President since 2015. He will be receiving their annual Lasting Impact Award on April 12th at the 2024 Annual Convention and Expo in Tampa, Florida. In 2022, He was awarded the association’s Hall of Fame award.

Price also currently serves on the National Board of Directors of the National Alliance for Children’s Grief (NACG), and the Advisory Board of the Center for the Study of Ethics/Sykes Business College at The University of Tampa.

In prepared remarks offered with the press release, Jake Johnson, CEO of Johnson Consulting Group, stated “Jim and I go way back to the days of Pierce Brothers Mortuaries and Keystone Group, I’m humbled that Jim would join our team.  Jim’s dedication and hard work in this profession will continue to flourish through his role at Johnson Consulting Group.”

Funeral Director Daily take:  I’ve known Jim Price for over 30 years.  He is one of the “good guys” of funeral service and willing to go the extra mile to help funeral directors and cemeterians out. He has played a pivotal role recently in our profession by trying to recruit more people to funeral service and was instrumental in the promotion of the Journey to Serve initiative whereby the funeral profession worked to recruit honorably discharged veterans to our ranks.

If I remember correctly, Jim comes from a family funeral service background and over his career his wisdom and advice have been a help to many. . . including this funeral director.

    Good for Mr.Price.

I’m more concerned about the fact that PLC thought it was a good idea to lose him.

We are close to 1 month since PLC divested 25% of their business and has yet to acquire any NEW businesses. Why get rid of your Industry Relations person if you’re going to grow?

Brad continues to “talk” about the MANY opportunities out there and how well PLC is placed. At the same time saying they never overpay and everyone else does. In the same breath, they won’t cheat a seller by offering too low of a price.

In the last 12 months PLC has only bought a handful of firms. Sold 25% of their business (which I agree was their worst 25%) but, everything is going great?

Lower sales, profit margins and no GROWTH. He’s been running it for 4 years+ and an investor has yet to make a dime with him in charge. Shareholders/board should give him another 6 months or IMO find another mgmt. team to run the business and maybe even grow it.

SCI has no problem growing and they are disliked. CSV shouldn’t be buying (and drowning in debt) but, they still find sellers.

Time to walk the talk PLC.
