Interesting Research at Stonehenge

It’s a beautiful Friday morning in Minnesota and I’ve been up early just researching future articles for Funeral Director Daily.  As I mentioned before, I love to continue to learn and today I came upon this article from Science News that you can read here.

The article is about the Stonehenge monument and, until today, I did not know that Stonehenge served as a burial ground.  Evidently, according to the article people were buried at Stonehenge for about 500 years beginning about 5000 years ago.

While Stonehenge and its meaning remains a mystery, researchers, according to this article have deciphered that many remains were brought to Stonehenge as cremated remains to be buried.  Research of skull parts has led researchers to believe that Stonehenge could have been built by people from Wales.  It seems that the research indicates that many of the people buried at Stonehenge died over 200 kilometers (120 miles) away from Stonehenge and then were brought to Stonehenge following cremation.

I fully understand that this is not “up to date” death care news, but I thought why not let the readers, on a Friday, learn a little more about what is being done, and how the manner in which we care for our dead over the centuries, may lead to many clues about society.

Have a Great Weekend!!
