Evidently, Price Matters

Dignity, PLC, the British based conglomerate reported revenue for the 1st quarter of 2018 the other day.  The company reported revenue of       US$ 135 million for the quarter as compared to revenue of US$ 132 million for the 1st quarter of 2017.  That is an increase of 2.2%.

The increased revenue number is in spite of the fact that Dignity, PLC last year announced that they would be cutting their general service prices in response to consumer complaints about high prices.  So, in spite of the fact that they reduced price, they also increased revenue for the quarter on a comparative basis.  According to an article about the finances that you can read here, the number of death calls received by the firm went from 167,000 for the 1st quarter of 2017 to 181,000 for the 1st quarter of 2018.  That is an increase of almost 8% in death calls.

The numbers left an EBIT of US$ 53 million due to what management called “a trend in a higher number of death calls”.  Management also said that the results were ahead of projections, but  it was too early to conclude results for the full year.
