Creedy, Jefferson form advisory firm

Long-time Death Care executives and advisors Alan Creedy and Danny Jefferson have again joined together to form a new firm to help those in the business.  A press release issued earlier this week announced the “formal launch of J & C Advisors, a newly organized advisory platform created to support independent funeral home owners and successors as they navigate a period of profound change within the profession”.

Creedy and Jefferson have long been the voice and intellect beind the successful “Two Guys and A Question” podcast which is geared for funeral service professionals.  It is my understanding that the podcast will still be available under the J & C Advisors platform.

According to the press release Creedy commented, “Over time, it became clear that what we were really doing was helping people prepare—not just financially, but mentally and culturally—for the future of funeral service.  This new platform allows us to describe that work more clearly and deliver it with greater intention.”

Again according to the press release, “Rather than offering stand-alone programs or generalized consulting, J & C Advisors has reorganized its work into clearly defined venues of service. Each venue focuses on a specific dimension of leadership development, including financial stewardship, peer collaboration, skills development, and successor readiness. The firm’s philosophy is rooted in the belief that the next decade will challenge many long-standing assumptions in funeral service—and reward those who lead with clarity, curiosity, and intention.”

Danny Jefferson made this comment in the press release, “This isn’t about scale or volume. I’s about creating space for honest conversation among people who recognize that the profession is changing and who want to think seriously about what that means for their businesses, their families, and their communities.”

Funeral Director Daily take:  Danny Jefferson and Alan Creedy both have long and illustrious careers in Death Care.  As a matter of fact, The American Funeral Director Magazine named Danny Jefferson Funeral Director of the Year in 2017.

Creedy and Jefferson have also been the people behind what some know as “Blue Ocean Tours”.  I attended one of their “tours” this past summer and found it very enjoyable and filled with knowledge and the ability to meet many new Death Care friends.  The 48-72 hour “industry-related” tours are the perfect situation to meet other funeral directors and learn about other funeral operations in a small group setting that is perfect for building friendships among non-competing funeral home operators.  If you have not went on one of these events think about doing so.
