Wreaths Across America Volunteers Needed

Thousands of volunteers are needed on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at Arlington National Cemetery by the non-profit Wreaths Across America to lay wreaths and remember the lives of those that have served.  You can learn how you can participate by clicking here.

Wreaths Across America is now in its 26th year and coordinates wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as over 1,100 other cemeteries across all 50 states each holiday season.

Funeral Director Daily take:  Let’s pass this on so that we can make sure that for this holiday season all American veterans who are laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery are remembered.  One of the things that I like most about Wreaths Across America is part of their creed that says everybody dies twice — first when they take their last breath and then secondly when nobody remembers their name anymore.  Wreaths Across America volunteers are asked to say the name of each armed services member as they lay the wreath at their tombstone – keeping their names alive.

Karen Worcester, Executive Director of Wreaths Across America also has it correct when she says, ” We are not here to decorate graves — we’re here to remember not their deaths, but their lives.”

Here is the website for Wreaths Across America where you can not only learn more about the organization and donate to the cause, but you can also add cemeteries that you would want decoration wreaths placed on.
