Van – With Dead Body Inside – Stolen in Jacksonville

Police issued a bulletin on Monday afternoon about a silver 2006 Honda Odyssey minivan that was stolen from Affordable Cremation Solutions in Jacksonville, Florida.  According to the article in Jacksonville.com which you can read here, the van contained the remains of a man who had passed away and was strapped to a cot in a body bag.

According to the same article the driver told officers that he parked the van with the doors open and the engine running for just a moment to run into a business to drop off paperwork.  Again, according to the article, a police helicopter was dispatched but they have yet to locate the van.

Funeral Director Daily take:  Sometimes I just cannot believe the stories that I see.  The deceased body that is somebody’s loved one is aboard and the thought that the driver leaves the vehicle running with the doors open, and unsupervised, is beyond me.  I was always – taught by my father in this business – that our cargo as funeral directors is the most precious cargo there is.  The utmost respect and care should be taken at all times.
