Last week we noticed in this short announcement from Market Screener that Houston-based Service Corporation International (SCI) had acquired the Porter Loring Mortuaries based in San Antonio, Texas.  It appears that the Porter Loring Companies operated three funeral homes in the San Antonio, Texas, market.

According to information gleaned from the San Antonio Express-News, the family-owned Porter Loring Mortuaries were founded in 1918 and still operated by the Loring family.

Also, according to sources, Service Corporation International is North America’s largest “chain of funeral homes and cemeteries” with more than 1,400 operating locations.

“Service Corporation International announced today that it has successfully completed its previously announced public offering of $800 million aggregate principal amount of 5.750% Senior Notes due 2032.  The offering was made by means of an underwritten public offering pursuant to an effective shelf registration statement filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
