New product – Parting Stone – wins award

Just yesterday Funeral Director Daily featured an article about staying positive about changes that come within the industry.  We wrote about changes in funeral service over the last 150 years and how figuring out how you can enhance your service with those changes is what keeps funeral homes relevant to death care consumers.

Today, we are introducing you to a new product for the cremation industry.  That product is Parting Stone.  Here’s how Parting Stone describes itself in a press release:

“Parting Stone provides a service that offers a solid alternative to cremated remains.  Families now have the option of receiving either “ashes” or “stones” following cremation.  The shape, color, size, and texture of the solidified remains is 100% natural and varies depending on each unique batch of remains provided to their lab.  Parting Stone’s solidification technology introduces a new form of human and animal remains and creates an entirely new category in death care.”

We bring you this article today because just last week it was announced that Parting Stone won First Place in the International Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association’s (ICCFA) Keeping It Personal (KIP) Awards which recognize the best in personalization in the cemetery, funeral service and cremation profession.

According to the press release ICCFA honors four categories with its KIP Awards and Parting Stone was the winner of the “Most Innovative Personal Product” category.  Again, according to the press release, ICCFA had 47 entries for its KIP Awards and communications and marketing professionals from outside the death care profession did the judging.

You can learn more about Parting Stone from their web-site here.

Here is an article from the Albuquerque Journal pertaining to some of the history of Parting Stone and its founder, Justin Crowe.

Funeral Director Daily take:  I am extremely pleased to see Parting Stone win this award.  I’ve never seen the product in person, but I believe that there is a place for it in the products that a death care professional would explain are available to families at need or to a potential death care client preneed.

One of the favorite things about operating this blog is the people I have met through emails who have written to me.  Parting Stone’s founder, Justin Crowe, is one of those people.  Justin is a talented writer who used to write for a death care publication.  I was honored when he reached out to me to tell me that he enjoyed the writings of Funeral Director Daily.

Eventually, I found out that he was working on this project and am thrilled to see him moving it forward.

For the record, I have no financial stake in Parting Stone, but am truly excited to see Justin move his product forward.  It is new and innovative and may be something your client families may be interested in.
