October comes to an end and we are beginning the “Holiday Rush”

Wow!!  It is hard to believe that the “Trick or Treaters” have visited our home and the National Funeral Directors Association convention is in the (NASCAR) rear-view mirror.  October was great and I was able to do a little traveling — including getting to see many of you at NFDA in Charlotte.

It was again so much fun to get to converse with many of my old friends and meet so many new ones!  Simply walking the Expo floor makes me realize how much funeral service has changed in my time. . . . . but also reminded me of how great those that work in Death Care continue to be — both in their friendship with colleagues and with the products they are creating to make grief a little easier for the consumer.

The entire NASCAR-themed convention, including the Opening Night Welcome Bash at the NASCAR Hall of Fame was really enjoyable.  I had never been to Charlotte and enjoyed the city, the hospitality, and the weather!!  Next year, I understand the NFDA Convention is set for Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in late September rather than October.  I hope to be there as well!!!

In any regard, if you were busy during October it could be that you missed some of Funeral Director Daily’s “Most Read Articles of the Month”.  As is the custom of Funeral Director Daily, we offer a reprise of our five most read articles of the month for you to catch up on. . . .Here they are:

  1. Park Lawn purchases business assets of historic Texas funeral home. . . Strategy may start a trend of facility closures.
  2. Park Lawn makes promotions to strengthen “Family Experience” and support growth. . . .promoting from within.
  3. “Margin Repair”:  That sounds like what our profession needs
  4. Dignity Plc Funeral Services Owner:  The legal services strategy has continued to exceed expectations.
  5. Preneed:  Your funeral homes reputation may be tied to your preneed provider.

Thanks again for continuing to read the articles that I generate and to use the sponsors products who help bring you Funeral Director Daily free of charge.  We live in America and you have a choice of which providers you use . . . but any business you can give our sponsors is appreciated as their generosity is the only way that Funeral Director Daily can be brought to your inbox five days per week free of charge. . . . Next time you see a representative of one of our sponsors, make sure you thank them!!!

Here we go — the next 60 days will go fast. . . . Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Hanukkah, Christmas, Football Bowl Game Season, The New Year, and then once again the Football Championship Playoffs!!  I know I’ll say it again, but let me be one of the first to wish you a Happy Holiday Season!!!
