Snakes on a plane. . . .and in a cemetery

We bring you this article and video about the Charles Baber Cemetery in Pottsville, Pennsylvania.  We bring it to you simply because it is so unusual.

The article is about an 8-foot, non-venomous black snake that has apparently taken up residence in the cemetery.  It appears to live in some of the walls of the cemetery where workers have had it by the tail but not been able to pull it out to eradicate if from the cemetery.  One of the cemetery workers says in the article that they have been trying to catch the snake for weeks.

Visitors have been startled by the snake and a group of elementary school children were forced to cancel their outing to place flags for Memorial Day on veteran’s graves because of the snake.

Okay, I’ve been a funeral director for over 35 years and have provided thousands of interment services during that time.  I’ve never seen anything like this – I’m not a snake person – or anything else for that matter that might scare me aware from a service.

Just goes to show. . . there is always something new around the corner in funeral service.

Wow that is a crazy story! I was once at an outdoor wedding where there were bees attacking people. I can imagine that possibly being an issue at cemeteries too, if a nest of territorial ones are close to a grave location.
