InvoCare invests in new cloud and bandwidth technology

Sometimes the way we communicate is overlooked and can, over time, creep costs upward and move operational productivity down at the same time.  Things like internet services and the providers that we use need to be reviewed every so often.

InvoCare, which operates 290 funeral locations and 16 cemeteries across Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore just made a decision to make sure that all locations had the bandwidth and network capacity to make sure that they could live stream funeral services around the world.

The company just completed a project, which you can read about here, where a managed service provider rolled out telephone service, fiber access, cloud service, bandwidth expansion, and managed services to 284 of InvoCare’s facilities and their main offices.

In doing so, not only does InvoCare now have the capacity to live stream events as a client service, or possibly as an additional charged add-on but the new system lowered their annual operating costs of doing so about US$ 544,000  (Aus$ 800,000) or about US$ 1,915 per location.

Funeral Director Daily take:  These are the kind of operating efficiencies that I always looked for.  First of all, outside of capital costs, it appears the annual operating costs will now be less per facility. That is a win in itself.

And secondly, the company has the ability to gain more clients (market share) because of this service or possibly even gain additional revenue on current clients if they offer the live stream as a billed additional service.

If a business can lower its costs and at the same time take in greater revenue then you have the ability to raise margins and sometimes turn costs into revenue generators.  That is pretty hard to beat for the bottom line.
