Fires in the funeral business

It is always sad to see when fire destroys any business, but for us in the funeral business it is heartbreaking to see our colleagues go through something that we hope never happens to us.

Over the weekend we learned of February fires that destroyed at least two of our colleagues places of business.  This article and news video tells of the fire to the Snapp-Bearden Funeral home of Branson, Missouri, that occurred last Thursday.

And, this article tells of a historic funeral home, Dent’s Undertaking Establishment, in Augusta, Georgia, and a fire that destroyed it earlier in February.

Funeral Director Daily take:  Remember, this could happen to any of us.  It is also a reminder to think about what would you do if this happened to you.  Do you have a plan on how you would resume business if your facility was destroyed?  While I was fortunate that something like this never happened to me in business we always had an agreement with a church on moving into it during a potential reconstruction period.  Thinking of these incidents also should have you reviewing your insurance coverages.
