In the continuing saga of the possible exhumation of famed bank robber John Dillinger, a relative of Dillinger’s has been given the okay for an exhumation to occur on December 31.  This comes after a legal fight in which the original exhumation date in September came and went without incident.  You can see the latest in this article from ABC Chicago.

The History Channel was originally going to film the exhumation for a purported documentary but it is believed that they have withdrawn support for the exhumation and at the present time there is no media partner involved in the exhumation.

Dillinger is buried in Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis, Indiana.  It has been, and continues to be Crown Hill’s contention, that this exhumation would disrupt the peace and tranquility of the cemetery.  According to the ABC Chicago article, the cemetery intends to file a brief opposing the December 31 date.
