Batesville reports that 4th Qtr sales are flat

Hillenbrand Industries, parent company of Batesville Casket company reported earlier this week that Batesville’s fiscal 4th Quarter sales (July, August, September) were essentially flat from the prior year.  You can see Hillenbrand’s 4th Quarter and Year End report here.

Hillenbrand Industries reported quarterly revenue of $486 million — an increase over 4Q 2018 of 2%.  They also reported that the growth was spurred by an increase of 3% in their Process Equipment Group while Batesville  revenue was “essentially flat”.  Of that $486 million in Hillenbrand Industy sales – $136 million can be attributed to Batesville.  That $136 million is about 28% of the total Hillenbrand revenue.

Hillenbrand CEO Joe Raver said, “We are encouraged by the growth. . . . as well as Batesville’s performance in delivering healthy margins in the face of lower volume and higher input costs.”  The report mentioned the fact that Batesville had a higher adjusted EBITDA margin driven by pricing and productivity gains.

In looking ahead to Fiscal Year 2020 guidelines, the company gave guidance that indicates that they believe that Batesville revenue will drop by 1% to 3%.
