Another Reason for Burial of Cremated Remains

Those of us at Funeral Director Daily have told you that we truly advocate for the memorialization of cremated remains in an earth grave with marker or cemetery niche or columbarium.

Today we bring you these moving photos and video following an apartment fire in Providence, Rhode Island.  One photo captures the moment a firefighter was able to rescue the remains and hand them to the mother.  The video is of the mother thanking those for the reunification.

Just think, had this fireman not located the urn, this mother would have lost the remains of her recently deceased daughter forever.  I’m of the opinion that if people thought of what could happen to the remains – theft, loss, fire – by keeping them at home, they would more often than not choose a permanent memorialization solution.

I think it is a funeral director’s responsibility to drive home this point.  To me, it is just good funeral directing.
